Come out to enjoy this local Jazz Trio featuring Steve Creech on guitar, Les Sutorius on trumpet and vocals, and Tommy Smith on trombone and vocals.

Steve Creech, guitarist and leader of the band, resides outside of Winterville. A Kinston native, he began entertaining on his ukelele at age six with the family barbershop and gospel quartet. A self-taught guitarist at age 11, he and a classmate formed his first band, The Hi-Fi-s, during high school in the fifties. He has been playing receptions, dances, weddings, dinners, benefits, and entertainment venues ever since.

Les Sutorius, a highly-sought trumpet player, has a rich background in the field of traditional jazz and New Orleans jazz. He was an All-State band member in the State of New York, where he was also chosen to play trumpet in the All-America Band. Sutorius came South to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, playing with many of the jazz bands in the area. Returning to New York, he continued to play with many bands there before returning to N. C. and retiring at Cypress Landing.

Tommy Smith, a Greenville native, has credits from the ECU School of Music and Berkelee School of Music in Boston. A music educator for more than 25 years, the trombonist has performed with many professional groups, including the Pete Fountain Dixieland Band, the Dorsey Brothers, the Disney Orchestra, the Platters, the Loonis McGlohon Jazz Orchestra, and a contract with the great Stan Kenton Band. Smith has also performed on national television with Hal Lindon on the Captain and Tennille Show.

Join us for our next monthly Open Mic Night, the first Saturday night each month. Folks, this is your chance – it's time to step up, sign up, and shine out. Please e-mail bctma@ymail.com and let us know if you'd like to participate. If you cannot perform on this date, but wish to be considered for a future Open Mic show, please go ahead and send an e-mail and let us know. We plan to keep a roster of performers that are willing to participate in order to have a variety of opportunities to spread around. Performers for each show will be chosen by the UAC.
